Writing Autumn

  • The Smithy The Old Carpenters Yard National Trust Coleshill Estate, Coleshill Oxfordshire SN6 7PT (map)

Who is it for: Whether you are beginning your writing journey or are already an established writer, you will be warmly welcomed.

What you will explore: During this three-hour course, set in the beautiful surroundings of the National Trust estate at Coleshill, in Oxfordshire, you will explore how autumn has captured the imagination of writers throughout time, across a range of genres. Drawing on autumn-inspired writing, the season’s atmosphere of slowing down and glorious colour, along with my ‘Inspiration Trove’, you will gather prompts and possibilities for your own prose or poetry to write in any genre or style you choose.

What could be the significance of a pile of conkers next to a dead body? How might the colours of the autumn leaves bring back a memory good or bad?

The session includes a short break for tea/coffee and cake, with time to wander through the second-hand bookshop at the end.
